Banish Screen Struggles and Regain Life with Professional Coaching

Whether you or your child is struggling, there is a path to success! Get a personalized plan and help along the way, to create lasting change.

Have you noticed that you or your child are spending too much time in front of a screen?
Our human brains are getting hijacked by modern technology

The good news is, freeing yourself and/or your child from the lure of technology is possible.

It would be my joy to help you become more peaceful, motivated, and happy as you escape from the grip of technology. I am certified in Technology Addiction and Digital Health through the NIDHW, and I am a Problematic Gaming Specialist.

It’s Science!

Research studies and case studies have shown that improvement in grades, an ability to focus, and an improved mood result from getting out of technology’s grip. Not only does technology distract adults from what is important in life, and strain relationships, with children it actually affects the way their brain develops. Children need to have what was once considered a ‘normal’ childhood (which is now being swallowed by screens) in order to learn reading and writing skills. Occupational therapists have been especially alarmed at some of the developmental delays that children who spend too much time on screens, have.

It’s Addiction!

Brain development continues into the mid-twenties, so children and young people are especially vulnerable to technology’s ability to negatively impact the brain. Brain imaging has shown that the brain of a technology addicted person ‘lights up’ in the same way that a drug addicted person’s brain lights up. Dr. Peter Whybrow, the director of neuroscience at UCLA, calls electronic screens and video games ‘electronic cocaine.’ ‘Dopamine detox’ is now a familiar term. I have, of course, read ‘The Anxious Generation’ by Jonathan Haidt. It has some scary statistics! This issue is so new, people don’t know what to call it. Social media addiction, gaming addiction, smartphone addiction, you name it, it’s a problem!

Are you affected?

What are some symptoms of digital addiction? Withdrawal from others, anger (especially when you tell your kid to get off the device), less eye contact, lying about usage, using it to escape uncomfortable feelings, fewer interests, lowering grades, poor work performace, lacking motivation, seeming stressed or depressed with no apparent reason. There can also be physical symptoms like ‘tech neck’ as chiropractors are seeing, and negative effects on vision due to certain eye muscles not being used for distance vision.

I can help!

I specialize in helping teens and adults overcome the ‘modern life challenge’ of managing the use of technology. Video games and social media are swallowing our important face-to-face connections, let’s do something about it! It starts with me helping you create a detailed plan, then I walk beside you as you carry out the plan, helping you with bumps along the way. Sessions are $120 with extra phone calls included.
